Storm Arwen proved challenging to many communities and critical service networks, alike!
Many went without power for a number of days and cellular networks failed.
COTAG 4x4 Response were mobilised but could not effectively communicate due to the damage done to the cellular network.
COTAG and their partners have since established a working group to develop a resilient communication resource in Scotland, after this experience and lessons learned, published by Scottish Government in the aftermath.
Thanks to Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks - Resilient Communities Fund, both COTAG and Tayside 4x4 Response have successfully been awarded £50,000 each to make the Community Resilience Project a reality!
We are now building a Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) communications network throughout Scotland that will lead to communications always being available, during times of need.
